About Us

Where Words Meet the Wild: Celebrating the connection between poetry and place.

Founded in 2023 by Jenna Veazey, Poetry on the Trail was born from a simple idea: that poetry, like nature, invites us to slow down and look closer. What began as a local experiment—placing poems along walking paths—has grown into a community that celebrates both the written word and the natural landscapes that inspire it.

Our mission is to deepen our connection to the environment through the intersection of poetry and nature. We believe that a single stanza can change the way we see a forest, a river, or even the quiet space within ourselves.

Our vision is to grow and support a community that showcases the natural resources celebrated by the region’s writers. Through collaboration with poets, environmental stewards, and local partners, we seek to make art accessible in the places where we live, work, and wander.

Every poem placed along a trail, every verse shared outdoors, reminds us that language - like nature - is a living, breathing thing. Poetry on the Trail is a celebration of both.
